Sundials

The invention of the sundial marks the beginning of time measurement. It was developed independently in ancient China and Mesopotamia. For thousands of years, sundials formed the basis for time-of-day orientation. The sundial scale is based on the time division with the base 6 that is still valid today and was not replaced by the decimal system.
