Armillary spheres

The armillary sphere is the symbol of astronomy par excellence. Depending on its design, it can be used to take measurements in the sky or depict celestial movements. Developed in ancient Greece, it was brought to Europe by Arab astronomers, where it flourished in the 16th century.
